the perfect arrangement for a big event may seem daunting with so many beautiful
flowers available.
Flowers are a big part of a
wedding day. They accompany the bride, enhance the event setting and remain for
all to enjoy even after the big day comes to an end.
Meeting
with a florist is a must for most event organizers. To prepare for the
get-together, look through magazines to find flower and bouquet arrangements
that suit your tastes, review the meanings of certain flowers, find out what
flowers go with the season of your big event, acquire photos of the bridesmaids
dresses to include style, fabric and colors, be able to discuss the style of the
bride’s dress, and most importantly, know the budget you must follow.
If you become
lost in the many visual choices presented, consider a flower’s perfume. Freesias
and tea roses are both wonderfully aromatic, and when it comes to greenery,
rosemary is becoming very fashionable due to its distinctive scent. Need
seasonal inspiration? Traditional Southern seasonal flowers include: Spring:
dogwood,
forsythia, foxglove, herbs, larkspur, magnolia, roses, sweet pea, tulips,
wisteria; Summer: aster, cosmos, hydrangea, roses, rosemary, sunflower,
zinnia; Fall: bittersweet, hydrangea, ornamental berries, roses, salvia,
sassafras, sumac; Winter: evergreens, hydrangea, roses.
Wedding
Flower Checklist: It’s difficult to remember all the flowers you’ll need for
a wedding. Here is a handy listing of arrangements you’ll want to plan for:
Bouquets: bride, bridesmaids, maid of honor, flower girl, bride’s toss bouquet.
Boutonnieres: groom, best man, ushers, bride’s father, groom’s father,
grandfathers, ring bearer.
Corsages: bride’s mother, groom’s mother, grandmothers. Ceremony Flowers: main
altar, aisle or pew decorations. Reception Flowers: head table centerpiece,
guest table centerpieces, buffet table centerpiece. Rehearsal dinner: table
centerpieces.
