Photo Opportunities: Picture perfect – that’s what everyone wants their event to be. When planning your wedding, party, reunion or other big event on the Carolina coast, take into consideration the many unique opportunities you will have for memorable photos. Nature itself provides the ultimate backdrop for capturing the perfect picture.
           
For weddings, consider these ideas: Take a snapshot of the flower girl holding hands with the bride and walking down the beach, or a candid photo of the ring bearer and flower girl building a sandcastle together. Gather the bride and bridesmaids for a photo of friends sitting poolside in their dresses. Snap a picture of the groom and his groomsmen off for a day of charter fishing. On the day of the event, ask if some of the photos can be taken prior the ceremony so that the wedding party and the bride and groom’s immediate family can get to the reception more quickly.

Don’t forget formal photos are wonderful, but casual and candid shots can also capture the memory of family and good friends coming together for a special occasion. The possibilities are truly endless and local photographers are usually quick to offer some terrific ideas beyond the more traditional photos. And because they know the area, they know the perfect time of day and the perfect places to shoot photos.           

Tips for choosing an event photographer:

• Ask to view their portfolio of event photographs. If planning an outdoor event or wedding, ask about the photographer’s experience with outdoor venues like a sunset ceremony.
• Ask about rates. Does the photographer charge by the hour or charge a set fee? What type of camera is used and what is the policy should something go wrong with the photos?
• Ask about set photo packages and if your selection options (photo sizes, etc.) can be customized, and if the photos can also be provided on CD.
• Ask for a reference or references, and ask the references how they felt about the photographer’s work and his or her direction of the photography during the event.
• Consider several photographers before making your choice. You may be impressed with the first photographer you meet; but you may be even more wowed by the third.

Motion Pictures: Videography is a unique way to share the events of a reunion, party or wedding with those who couldn’t attend, or those that were present but would like to relive each specific moment or remember words said. Videos can now be easily transferred in mass to CDs and DVDs that are compatible with most computers and DVD players.
           
Look for a videographer with current or state-of-the-art knowledge and experience in recording, editing and ensuring audio, as well as video quality. Don’t hesitate to ask professional event video providers about the quality and age of their video and audio equipment, if they blend music with the video recording, and if the video can be transferred to CD and/or DVD with multiple copies for friends and loved ones.
